If you're having trouble viewing a video that you downloaded or received in an email then here are some steps to take that
should solve the problem.
1. Make sure you're using the most recent version of Windows Media Player.
2. If you have Sound but no Video then most likely it's a video codec error. Try installing the Free K-Lite Codec Pack.
There are three versions of the K-Lite Codec Pack - Basic, Standard, and Full. Big Geek Daddy suggests you try the
Basic or Standard version first.
Windows Vista Users: If you have neither video or sound then it's due to Internet Explorer 7 Security Settings. You can fix
this by adding BigGeekDaddy.com as a "Trusted Site". With IE7 Browser Open to a BigGeekDaddy.com page Go to:
Tools - Internet Options - Security - Trusted Sites - Sites - Then uncheck the box at the bottom called "Require Server
Verification (https) then click on the Add Sites button - finally click on the Close button.
If you're having trouble viewing certain videos on Big Geek Dad or another website like YouTube then most likely
it's a Flash Player problem.
1. If you can see that a video is supposed to be on the web page but Can't View the Video then try installing the Free
Adobe Flash Player. If you have trouble installing the Flash Player or want to make sure you're not running older versions
then please follow the steps to Troubleshoot Adobe Flash Player.
2. If the previous step doesn't work then consider installing the Free FireFox Browser. You might want to do this
anyway to improve your browser security.
Usually doing one , if not all of the steps described above will solve the problem of not being able to view a video file.
If YouTube or other Flash videos start and stop then try this fix:
1. When the video begins to Play hit the Pause button.
2. Give the video time to download - you can monitor this by watching the red bar move from left to right at the bottom of
YouTube videos.
3. When it's fully loaded or has a big head start hit play again and watch the video.
Big Geek Daddy usually looks at another web page while the video is in Pause mode.
